Story 4: Tips & tricks: Mindfulness and visualization
Sometimes my head is buzzing so much I can’t sleep. Mindfulness and visualization can be a big help.
I concentrate on my breathing and close my eyes. I imagine I’m lying on my back in a meadow, looking at the sky, where clouds are floating by.
I hold every thought and worry in my hands, one by one, and I give each of them a gentle push and let them soar into the sky, becoming one with the clouds. The clouds pass by and if I’m lucky the sun will come shining through.
For me it works to disassociate a bit from my thoughts and worries. Let them be there and it’s okay that they’re there, but they are not me and they cannot control me.
In that moment in time I’m safe, I calm down and I’m able to fall asleep.
